Fairy Doll
World Premiere !
Vladimir Issaev’s new version of “Fairy Doll” will be a revival of this forgotten ballet and a world premiere. The story derives its inspiration Viennese ballet of 1888 by Joseph Bayer titled “Die Puppenfee” (“The Fairy Doll”), and is about the after-hours amusement among all the toys in the store that occurs when the store is closed. An alternative to The Nutcracker to initiate young audiences to appreciate the art of ballet, Fairy Doll is a ballet in two acts with music by Josef Bayer. The story is set in a toy shop. The owner shows dolls to different customers. After the shop closes, the dolls come to life and dance both alone and with each other all led by the Fairy Doll.

"Doctor Ouch"!
For the enjoyment of all audiences! A Ballet in two acts based on children poems about a Doctor that cures animals and goes to Africa to save the ill monkeys. Based on the books by Kornei Chukovsky. If there are hospitals for people, then why there should not be hospitals for animals? And in every hospital there must be a doctor. Who will prescribe eyeglasses for an owl or sew a new wing on a Flamingo? The good old Doctor Ouch, of course! To help his animal friends, Doctor Ouch! will set out for faraway Africa and, together with his patients, will fight with the devious pirate Barmalei and experience many unbelievable adventures…A mischievous, hilarious ballet packed with pirates and chases, flying birds and dances. This performance is part of the Family series tat Arts Ballet Theatre of Florida presents to the young audiences of South Florida.
The
ballet “Chipollino”, which Issaev
choreographed to music by Russian composer K.
Katchaturian, is based on Gianni Rodari's tale
about vegetables. The story of a naughty "green
onion" character called Chipollino is very
popular in Russia.
The ballet was first premiered
with Ballet Concierto de Puerto Rico, later
Ballet Juvenil de Venezuela and in 1999 with
Georgia Youth Ballet, with excellent reviews.
Issaev's has renewed his choreography
and entire production for his very exceptional
dancers of Arts Ballet Theatre of Florida. He
adapted the story making his own libretto of
the story, in order to be more accessible to
the American audiences.
The acting takes place in a
happy town Limonia where flowers, vegetables
and fruits share their lives under the power
of the mean Prince Lemon. Chipollino is the
last name of a popular family of onions that
live in a very happy village with many other
vegetables. All is well in the village until
the Chief of Police Tomato arrives to tell the
villagers of a new law, stating that all villagers
must pay for sunlight, rain and wind.

The
villagers are upset and young Chipollino steps
on the chief's foot as a sign of protest and
runs away. When the police cannot find him,
they take his father to jail.
The chief also sees that Mother
Pumpkin is building her new house on Countess
Cherry's land and he orders the police to destroy
the house. Chipollino hears the news and decides
to rescue his father and put a stop to the evil
police. At Countess Cherry's castle, Chipollino
and Ms. Carrot befriend the sad princess on
their way to rescuing Chipollino's father.
Through
music and dance, “Chipollino” not
only tells the story of a fanciful folk tale,
but also expresses a much deeper political statement.
Ballet “Chipollino”
is presented in two acts during which both adults
and children could enjoy acting, music as well
as costumes designed by Jorge Gallardo.
